The Outreach Program was created in the year 2000 and has continued until today to help inactive members resume their participation in the program and to educate people to see how they can earn eligibility for Social Security benefits. The Program focuses on helping those over 60 years old who have not yet reached eligibility, those who are below 60 years of age and stopped working before meeting eligibility requirements, and self-employed persons such as farmers, fishermen, and taxi drivers.
"AMNESTY FOR RETIREMENT"
Among the many efforts of the Outreach Program is through a program called "Amnesty for Retirement". This program helps citizens who are at least 60 years of age and have not yet acquired enough quarters to retire. Click here for details on how to qualify to receive benefits under this program.
PUBLIC OUTREACH MEETINGS
There is also an ongoing effort by the Social Security Administration to coordinate public outreach meetings with different state offices of the Republic of Palau to teach people what can be done to contribute to the program so they can be eligible for benefits upon reaching 60 years of age, becoming disabled or death. These meetings are also an opportunity for those who may not fully understand the Social Security program to have their questions answered. We find that once people better understand the program they become very enthusiastic about joining.
